To the Stripe:

Pleating to the Stripe refers to choosing a prominent vertical line in the tartan design and using that as the centre of every stripe.

This is most common on military and pipe band kilts - it has a great deal of impact and creates a striking colour contrast between the front apron and the back pleats.

Once the style of pleating is selected, each pleat is entirely hand sewn and measured to fit perfectly around the body and into the small of the back.
